BEG: standalone interior lighting
Reviewed:
From 21 July 2026, efficient interior lighting in non-residential buildings is no longer supported as a standalone BEG measure. Do not assume the former 15% grant for a new LED project. Previously submitted or approved projects follow the applicable transitional and approval conditions.
The municipal directive supports eligible municipalities and other municipal or non-profit bodies replacing complete lighting systems, including controls and installation. The standard rate is 25%; 40% applies to certain financially weak municipalities and applicants from lignite regions. Ordinary private businesses are not automatically eligible.
Outdoor and street-lighting renovation has its own route under the municipal directive. Eligibility, efficiency, controls and the specific technical requirements need checking. A simple lamp replacement is not automatically eligible.
Qualifying commercial non-residential projects in NRW may receive loan financing for new construction, efficiency-building renovation or eligible individual measures. This is not an automatic LED grant. Confirm project eligibility with your bank and planner before starting; current terms are published by NRW.BANK.
Check current conditions, eligibility and combinations before ordering or starting work. Only the funding body can approve support. The calculator therefore assumes no grant initially.
