Retrofit lamp, conversion kit or new luminaire?
Retain existing equipment with evidence of compatibility and suitability.
A compatible retrofit lamp may be used without fundamentally changing a luminaire. Conversion involving rewiring or new components is a different technical intervention. Mechanical fit, electrical safety, heat management and light distribution must suit the existing unit.
Responsibilities, manufacturer instructions and any required conformity assessment must be clarified. Existing protection and safety characteristics cannot simply be assumed. We inspect the actual luminaire before recommending a technically sound and economical conversion.
Consider future operation as well as the first conversion. Can replacements be identified, obtained and fitted? Will access, cleaning and documentation remain practical? Where many different old luminaires exist, standardised new variants may be more economical than numerous individual conversions. For special housings or architectural constraints, retention may be valuable. Compare the options for the actual building.
What to clarify for your project
- Collect nameplates, photographs and technical documents.
- Verify mechanical and electrical compatibility.
- Define responsibilities, documentation and required checks.
Remember: Mechanical fit alone does not demonstrate a safe, suitable conversion.
