LDT, IES and BIM: choosing planning data
Photometry and building geometry have different purposes.
LDT and IES files carry lighting data used in calculations. Building models describe geometry and spatial context. Suitable luminaire data, room surfaces and evaluation planes are all needed for a meaningful result.
Check that the file matches the proposed optic and output version. Visually similar luminaires can distribute light differently. Record the dataset together with the product variant and update calculations when room layouts or equipment change.
What to clarify for your project
- Check the optic and output.
- Verify geometry and surfaces.
- Archive the dataset with the drawing.
Remember: Match the calculation file to the exact product variant.
