Presence and daylight: use light where it is needed
Understand presence and daylight control without counting savings twice.
Presence detection reduces unnecessary running time. Daylight control dims artificial light when daylight is available. Well-defined zones avoid running an entire hall at full output for one occupied workstation.
Plan sensor positions, delays, dimming limits and manual control early. Drivers and interfaces must be compatible. Commission scenes and controls with users after installation. Savings depend on occupancy and daylight; an additional percentage cannot be guaranteed.
Good controls remain understandable to users. Appropriate delays, transitions and provisions for special situations matter. Meetings, cleaning or a different shift pattern may need other settings. Collect feedback after handover and adjust parameters where needed, so that a capable system is not routinely overridden or disabled in daily use.
What to clarify for your project
- Separate areas by occupancy and daylight.
- Plan sensors, time delays and manual override.
- Commission controls and monitor actual consumption.
Remember: Only enter control savings that are not already reflected in your operating hours.
