Screen workplaces without distracting reflections
Consider luminaires, windows and viewing directions together.
Reflections on displays and glossy documents can impair visual comfort. Reflected light therefore needs attention alongside direct glare. Luminaire positions relative to screens and viewing directions matter; lateral light and suitable matt surfaces can help.
Allow for different screen angles, adjustable desks and solar shading. Assess the result from the actual seated position. A suitable UGR result does not replace this reflection assessment.
What to clarify for your project
- Record viewing directions.
- Include daylight and shading.
- Check screens from the user’s position.
Remember: Review lighting when workstation layouts change.
